Attendance

Attendance:

Attendance is crucial to a child's education and therefore closely monitored by Pastoral Staff.  All absences should be explained by either a telephone call to the Absence Line (01291 426463) or a note into school prior to the absence.  Automated calls are made daily to the contact numbers of parents/guardians if a pupil is absent from registration, and for whom we have no reason for absence.

NOTE:- you may receive an automated call even if your child is in school if he or she did not attend registration, so please ensure that they realise the importance of attending registration on time and getting thier mark.

Holidays:

Holiday Forms can be collected from Caste, Grayhill or Deepweir Office, or from a Form Tutor.  Caldicot School would like to draw your attention to the following points:

1.     Parents/Guardians should know that we are only permitted to recognise ten school days as an authorised absence in any given school year.

2.     Any days above this figure cannot have the support of the school and will be recorded as unauthorised absence.

3.     Where holidays are authorised, we ask Parents/Guardians to be aware of the difficulties that this can cause to a pupil's academic progress.  We ask that they ensure that missed work is caught up.

4.     We would advise against holidays in Years 10-13 and any notified internal examination/assessment periods, details of which can be checked with the relevant Key Stage Manager.
