Admissions

Gaining a place at Caldicot School
Children are transferred from primary to secondary school in the year in which their twelfth birthday falls (ie. 1st September 2019 to 21st August 2020).

The timetable for the current admission round is detailed below

  • Date application packs available 1st October 2019;

  • Closing date for applications 30th November 2019 at 12 midday; and

  • Offer date 1st March 2020.

How do I apply for a secondary school for my child?
Having read all the information available from the Local Authority and from individual schools, parents may indicate their preferred school for their child.  Parents and their children are welcome to visit our school before making a decision; the annual school Open Evening is advertised on our school website. Alternatively, to visit the school at another time, contact the school office to arrange a tour. Before deciding to apply for a place at a particular school, you need to consider carefully how your child will travel to school, as you will not necessarily be eligible for transport assistance.

Applications must be completed by the person holding parental responsibility for the child concerned. The final agreed School Admissions Policy for 2020/21 can be found at

Monmouthshire - Applying For A School Place

Monmouthshire County Council has an Online Application System, which is available for you to use when making your child’s application. The system enables you to view and amend your child’s application up until the closing date of 30th November 2018 at midday. Alternatively, you can contact Monmouthshire County Council on the details below to request a paper application.

Online Application SystemPlease take some time to read the Guidance Notes and the Starting School Booklet 2019/20 to help you with the completion of your application, and understand how school places will be allocated, before submitting your application.
