Many of you may be aware that members of the Governing Body have spent the last two days undertaking a very thorough recruitment exercise for a new Headteacher for Caldicot School. That exercise concluded yesterday afternoon and despite high expectations following an extensive advertisement campaign, we were not able to appoint. I realise that this will be a disappointment and there may be some concerns. I should like to take this opportunity to reassure you that as a Governing Body we felt it was absolutely critical to make the right appointment and overall, after consideration of all aspects, we did not feel content to do that.
This will inevitably raise the question of ‘what next?’. We are committed to finding the right solution for Caldicot School and we are in close dialogue with our colleagues in the Local Authority and the Education Achievement Service (EAS) to ensure that Caldicot School has the leadership that its students and staff need to make the progress we all want to see in the school. As soon as we have clarity as to what this looks like I shall let you know.
Over the course of the last two days four candidates had the opportunity to spend time in our school, meet our students, staff and governors. As we received their feedback, the Appointments Panel of the GB were proud to hear described what they had heard from our mature, articulate students and the aspirations that our school community has for our fantastic building.
I shall keep you informed as soon as there are any developments.
