House System
At Caldicot, we pride ourselves on our unique House system which develops high standards, strong values, a sense of community and academic ambition. All students and staff belong to one of four Houses, these being Attenborough, Bevan, Curie and Pankhurst and House ties are worn with a sense of honour. Each House is overseen by a Head of House/Assistant Head of House. Additionally, students in the sixth form apply for prestigious leaderships roles within their allocated House.
Students are taught in year groups but attend form each day with students from Years 7 to 13. This system is designed to build identity and resilience, foster healthy competition, and instil the leadership and teamwork skills that young people need in life. Older students mentor younger students and the culture is “we are all part of the same family”.
Throughout the year, each department holds House competitions including Sports Day, the school Eisteddfod, half-termly attendance and Choir competitions. Students achieve House points which accumulate towards various rewards throughout the year.
We are very proud of our House system and the unity this creates
