Admissions

Gaining a place at Caldicot School
Children are transferred from primary to secondary school in the academic year in which their twelfth birthday falls (between 1st September to 31st August ).

The timetable for the current admission round is detailed below

  • Date application available 23rd September 2024;
  • Closing date for applications 11th November 2024 at 5pm; and
  • Offer date 3rd March 2025.

How do I apply for a secondary school for my child?
Having read all the information available from the local authority and from individual schools, parent(s)/carer(s) may indicate their preferred school for their child. Parent(s)/Carer(s) and their children are welcome to visit our school before making a decision. Our annual school Open Evening is advertised on our school website and details are shared with our designated partner primary schools. Alternatively, to visit the school at another time, contact the school office to arrange a tour. Before deciding to apply for a place at a particular school, you need to consider carefully how your child will travel to school, as you will not necessarily be eligible for transport assistance.

Applications must be completed by the person holding parental responsibility for the child concerned. Information relating to admissions may be found via the local authority dedicated webpage

The local authority operates an Online Application System, which is available for you to use when making your child’s application. The system enables you to view and amend your child’s application up until the closing date in November 2023. Alternatively, you can contact Monmouthshire County Council on the details below to request a paper application.

Please take some time to read the Guidance Notes and the starting school booklet to help you with the completion of your application, and understand how school places will be allocated, before submitting your application.
