 ALNET (Wales) Act

Caldicot School and The Nurcombe Centre works closely with the local authority to support students and their families with additional needs in specialist provisions and  within mainstream. 

The landscape of Special Educational Needs (SEN) is changing, young people currently with a statement of special educational will transfer to the new Additional Learning Needs (ALN) system. The Nurcombe Centre will begin the transfer of students to the ALN system over a two-year period, between September 2022 to August 2024. Centre staff will gather evidence from families, professionals and students, pertinent to individual student learning needs and hold person-centred meetings.This information will inform an Individual Development Plan (IDP).

Welsh Government have prepared a short video for parent(s)/carer(s) to explain how the new system operates.
